This report provides an insight in the financial relationships between Spanish banking groups and producers of controversial weapons since January 2006. 80 banking groups headquartered in Spain were investigated. The research focused on 31 major companies that are known to be involved in production and maintenance of controversial weapons.The result: 14 Spanish banking groups have been involved in the financing of in total 20 producers of controversial weapons since 2006. One of the companies financed is the Spanish company Instalaza, which supplied the cluster munitions with which the Kadaffi regime attacked rebels and civilians in Misrata in April 2011. |
